WHY FOSTER

  • There are many reasons a pet might need foster care such as:
  • Socializing the pet to a home environment and getting him used other pets and people.
  • When you foster, you agree to take a pet into your home and give him or her love, care and attention, either for a predetermined period of time or until the pet is adopted.
  • Helping the shelter or rescue learn more about the pet so he can end up in the best home possible.
  • Giving your foster pet the time he needs to be ready for adoption.
  • Freeing up a spot so that the shelter or rescue can take in another pet.
  • A rescue group doesn’t have a physical shelter and depends on foster homes to care for pets until suitable homes are found.
  • The pet is too young to be adopted and needs a safe place to stay until he or she is old enough to go to a forever home.
  • A pet is recovering from surgery, illness or injury and needs a safe place to recuperate.
  • A pet has not lived in a home before or has not had much contact with people and needs to be socialized.
  • Some Rescue organisations provide food and they all cover the cost of all veterinary care required. Fostering will therefore not cost you any money, if you have a passion for caring and loving pets and can provide a safe and loving shelter and home then please get in touch by clicking on a photo below and sending an email or calling the person who created the post.

WHY ADOPT

  • There are many reasons to adopt a pet in need such as:
  • Adopting a pet is cheaper than buying one and you’re getting more for your money if you get a mixed breed. A mixed-breed is likely to live longer and cost less in vet bills than a pure breed. Some purebred pets are prone to developing health problems.
  • Pets who are in need of a foster home on page are also up for adoption.
  • You get just as much love (if not more) from an adopted pet. They are every bit as loving, intelligent and loyal, even if you get an adult or older animal.
  • When you adopt, especially from a rescue group, you know what you are getting because the group has a history on the animal. The rescue group will also help you through the familiarization period because they are invested in the best home for that pet.
  • If you adopt, you get a choice of any age. Though puppies and kittens are cute and cuddly, they can also be a handful. An adult or older pet may be a better fit for you. For example, adopting an adult pet who’s already house-trained and knows basic cues is often much easier than adopting a puppy who must be taught these things.
  • When you adopt a pet, you are saving a life.
